BYU Basketball Prospect: Christian PoPoola Jr. (Class of 2017)

popoola_christian_lp2Christian PoPoola Jr. is a 6’4” 185 lb. point guard prospect for BYU basketball’s Class of 2017. PoPoola started his prep career at Bishop Gorman (NV), where he played as a freshman and helped the Gaels to a Division 1 state championship. He then moved to Highland Utah. As a sophomore at Lone Peak High School he averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. After his sophomore season PoPoola was named to the Region 4 first-team and the 5-A third team.

Rivals, Scout, and ESPN all give him 3-stars, while Rivals rates him at 73 and ESPN rates him 70 and #4 in the state of Utah. He has seen recruiting interest from Arizona, ASU, Boston College, BYU, Cal, Colorado, Connecticut, Harvard, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rice, SDSU, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, UNLV, Utah, Vanderbilt, and WSU. He has already been offered scholarships to Memphis, New Mexico, Princeton, Rice, SDSU, UNLV, USC, USU, and Washington State. His father Chris “POP” PaPoola is a national grassroots basketball scout for Premierball and former member of the UNLV basketball team (1999-2001).
