Parrish is a 6-foot-5 300 pound offensive tackle that played this past season at Snow College (JUCO, Ephraim, Utah) and prepped at Logan High School (Logan, Utah). He helped the Badgers to the no. 1 scoring offense nationally for Junior Colleges and a spot in the JUCO national title game.
As a senior at Logan (2015-16) he played in five games and had three tackles (one solo) on defense (MaxPreps), while being named to the 3AA All-State first team for offensive line. Following high school Parrish served a mission in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Parrish is rated 3-stars (0.8317) by 247Sports, who rate him as the no. 3 JUCO prospect in Utah for the class of 2021 and the no. 6 offensive tackle nationally. He was also rated 3-stars by Rivals and ESPN. He had scholarship offers from Arizona, Buffalo, Hawaii, Liberty, Massachusetts, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, San Jose State, Texas State, UNLV, UTSA, and Western Illinois, with interest from Southern Miss. Parrish had committed to Arizona but de-committed in October and re-opened his recruitment. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
I caught up with Parrish to ask him about his recruiting.
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Parrish: The culture, tradition, and legacy of BYU athletics is unmatched. The dedication to individual development and performance is unlike any other school I was recruited by. There are a multitude of schools that claim they want to develop students AND athletes into high performers, but there are few who can accomplish it the way BYU does. BYU is an exceptional fit for me because of both family proximity and the dedication to personal betterment.
BYU Insider: What other schools were showing you love in the recruiting process?
Parrish: Arizona, UNLV, Hawaii, Oklahoma State, Liberty, and Buffalo.
BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Parrish: Players like Joe Thomas (OT, Cleveland Browns), Tyron Smith (OT, Dallas Cowboys), Taylor Lewan (OT, Tennessee Titans), Aaron Donald (DT, LA Rams), and Tom Brady (QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
BYU Insider: Is there anything else you’d like Cougarfans to know about you?
Parrish: I’ve already served an LDS mission in Las Vegas, Nevada
