BYU gets Commitment from JUCO CB/RB Eric Ellison (Class of 2019)

BYU got it’s 16th commitment for the football class of 2019 this week as JUCO transfer Eric Ellison announced his intention to transfer to the Cougars on Monday.

Ellison is a 6-foot-0, 170 pound running back that played cornerback last season at Mt. San Jacinto College in California.  He rushed twice for 46 yards, caught 21 passes for 459 yards and four touchdowns, returned 11 kickoffs for 158 yards and eight punts for 142 (17.8 avg).  On defense he had 13 tackles (12 solo) and a pass breakup.

Ellison prepped at Banning High School (Wilmington, CA), where he played running back, wide receiver, cornerback, and returned kicks.  As a sophomore season he rushed 54 times for 311 yards and two scores, completed a 34 yard pass, caught 11 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns, had 44 tackles (35 solo) with a tackle for loss, one interception, and returned 11 kickoffs for 298 yards.  As a junior he returned four kickoffs for 193 yards (48.3 avg) and two touchdowns, three punts for 153 yards (51 avg) and another score.  On defense he had 56 tackles (34 solo), three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), caught 17 passes for 436 yards and eight touchdowns, and rushed 78 times for 806 yards and 10 touchdowns.   He also played on the basketball team and ran track.

Ellison is rated 3-stars by 247 Sports, and is 2-stars by Rivals. He had scholarship offers from Idaho State, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, UNLV, and Washington State.
