Brooks Jones is a 6-foot-6 200 pound athlete that preps at American Leadership Academy (Queen Creek, Arizona). With his size he could play receiver or tight end, but is projected as a defensive end for the Cougs. In basketball he played varsity as a sophomore and then averaged 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds his junior season (MaxPreps). He also competed in rodeo.
Jones is rated 3-stars (81) by 247Sports, who rank him as the no. 43 overall prospect from Arizona in the Class of 2022. BYU is his first scholarship offer. Brooks’s older brother Dean is part of BYU’s 2020 recruiting class.
I caught up with Jones to ask him about his recruiting.
BYU Insider: Why did you choose BYU?
Jones: Good academics and to play with my older brother Dean.
BYU Insider: What are some of your favorites?
Jones: The color blue, Star Wars, and three Double Doubles from In N Out.
BYU Insider: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Jones: My dad always says “Let your game do the talking for you, no need for smack talk.”
BYU Insider: Who is a current player that you seek to emulate on the field?
Jones: Chase Young (DE, Washington Football team) because of how quick he is at his size
BYU Insider: Is there anything else you’d like Cougarfans to know about you?
Jones: I’m planning on serving an LDS mission
