BYU basketball got their third verbal for the class of 2019 today as Shengzhe Li announced his intent to play for the Cougars via Twitter:

Li is a 6-foot-10 250 pound center that preps at Santa Margarita high school in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.  He was born and raised in Shanghai China, but spent a few summers playing Euroleague ball in Spain (for U18 CBA Las Palmas) and then moved to California last year.  As a junior at Santa Margarita he averaged 6.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.  In four AAU games this summer he averaged 8.5 points, 6.25 rebounds, and .75 blocks in 24 minutes per game.

Li has not yet been rated by Rivals, 247 Sports, or ESPN. He has seen recruiting interest from Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Denver, Rutgers, and San Francisco.  Li’s connection to BYU stems from his head coach at Santa Margarita–Jeff Reinert, a former assistant for BYU (1991-94) and the head coach at UVU from 1994-2002.  Li can sign with BYU during the early signing period in mid-November.).
