Looking ahead to 2017: BYU Football Prospect Ariel Ngata

Now that the dust is starting to settle from the National Letter of Intent day (Class of 2016), BYU is already starting to look ahead to 2017. Kalani Sitake and company wasted no time extending a scholarship offer to outside linebacker Ariel Ngata over the weekend, as reported on twitter:

Ngata is a 6’4” 210 pound outside linebacker (Class of 2017) who currently preps at Folsom High School (Folsom, CA), where as a junior he had 80 tackles (47 solo), four sacks, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. He also caught eight passes for 155 yards (19.4 ypc) and three touchdowns (see highlights below).

Ngata is rated 3-stars by Rivals and Scout, and is not yet rated by ESPN. Rivals has him rated the No. 29 OLB in the country. Ngata now holds scholarship offers from BYU, Colorado State, Hawaii, Utah, Washington, and Washington State. He has also been recruited by Arizona, Cal, Oregon, and Stanford. In December he told U Sports that his plan was to commit in either the spring or start of football season, and that Washington was at that time leading the pack. He’s looking for a school with good academics (potential communications major) where he can immediately compete for playing time.
