Transfer Tracker: SUU’s OT Andrew Eide to transfer to BYU

eide_150pxSouthern Utah University’s starting left tackle Andrew Eide will transfer to BYU as a graduate transfer (Class of 2016).  The 6’5” 286 pound Big Sky honorable mention graduated last December and plans to join the team this fall.  He joins fellow SUU lineman Keyan Norman and new coach Ed Lamb in transitioning from Cedar City to Provo.

Eide switched from defensive end, where he played his first two years, to the offensive line where he played last season.  As a sophomore in 2014 he recorded 20 tackles (14 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries, three pass break-ups, and a sack as a defensive end his junior season.  His freshman season was just as solid with 24 tackles (11 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble and fumble recovery, and three sacks.  That season (2013) Eide was named to the academic All-Conference team.

Prior to suiting up for the Thunderbirds, Eide prepped at Timpanogos High School where he had 55 tackles, two interceptions, five forced fumbles, five tackles for loss, one safety and one touchdown, and eight sacks as a senior.  He was named first-team All-Region and All-State honorable mention and also played on the basketball team.  Following high school graduation (2009) he took a redshirt season at SUU and then served an LDS mission to Brazil.
