The regular season for prep football in the state of Utah concluded on Friday night. However, almost all the teams of BYU commits are moving on to the playoffs, so there are still several weeks of good football left.
The games this weekend highlighted a few of BYU’s up-and-coming defensive stars. They can’t get here soon enough.
Chance Harrison (ATH, Oxnard, CA, Class of 2024)
Right before the football season started, 3-star California wide receiver and defensive back Chance Harrison gave a verbal commitment to play for BYU. The junior is a rising star and he has continued to grow and develop throughout this season.
On Friday the junior from Oxnard, CA put on a defensive show with nine tackles (six solo), his first career sack, and his first interception of the season (returned 18 yards).
Halfway into his season he has over 200 receiving yards with three touchdowns, a few kickoff returns, and 40+ tackles. Check out the first few plays on his highlights below to see him destroy some opposing receivers.
Easton Baker (LB, Stansbury, UT, Class of 2024)
Junior linebacker Easton Baker had another big game Friday, finishing with seven tackles (five solo) and his first interception of the season (returned 10 yards).
Baker has been the anchor of one of the best defensive teams in the state this season. Stansbury is 10-0 going into the playoffs and has outscored their opponents this season by an average margin of 54 to 16.
Baker has not matched the 100+ tackles he had his sophomore season, but that is largely because he plays just one or two quarters in many of their blowout wins. He concludes the regular season with 70 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble.

In his eight regular season games Borg totaled 62 tackles, three tackles for loss, three passes defended, and four interceptions.
